Bardstown Bourbon: Meet the Maker Steve Nally
Steve Nally brings more than 50 years of experience to the bourbon industry and stands as one of the few remaining Bourbon Hall of Fame Master Distillers still actively shaping the craft. He and his wife, Donna, are the only living husband-and-wife duo ever inducted into the Bourbon Hall of Fame. Steve began his career in 1972 at Maker’s Mark in his hometown of Loretto, Kentucky, ultimately rising to Master Distiller in 1988—a role he held until his retirement in 2003, when he launched a successful consulting business helping grow emerging brands like Wyoming Whiskey. In 2014, he became the first official employee of Bardstown Bourbon Company. Since then, Steve has played a vital role in pioneering the company into a modern trailblazer—championing innovation, transparency, and collaboration while staying true to the timeless traditions of whiskey making.
